Potentiometer troubleshooting method
1. The potentiometer is often in poor contact due to damage to the carbon film.
It can be judged from the appearance that the potentiometer has a poor contact failure, you can first disassemble the shell to check the degree of wear. If it is only a poor contact caused by mild abrasion, you can scrub the carbon film clean with absolute alcohol and carbon tetrachloride, and then adjust the pressure of the sliding arm on the carbon film appropriately.
2. There are three cases of damage to the potentiometer switch structure
The first is that it is closed continuously or cannot be opened;
The second is the poor contact, the on-off is not working;
The third is that the switch part falls off.

These three types of faults can be detected with a multimeter or can be seen by eyes. When repairing, for the first and third cases, new components must be replaced. For the second case, the switch can be repaired according to the problem that occurs. If the poor contact is due to the oxidation of the contacts, scrape to eliminate the fault; if the contact is poor due to the reduced spring force, replace the spring with a new one.
3.Potentiometer troubleshooting method
Fault repair method one
At present, there is a potentiometer without a switch and another potentiometer with a switch. The use of these two potentiometers is also prone to cause some failures, such as constant or different switching, or It is the short circuit caused by the poor line contact, and some of the internal components of the potentiometer fall off and so on. So how to fix these three types of problems? First of all, it is generally recommended to replace the potentiometer in view of the phenomenon of some components of the potentiometer falling off. It is difficult to restore the components if they fall off. Even if they can be glued back, they are dangerous in use. For example, for some faults such as poor contact, the poor contact of the potentiometer is generally due to the oxidation of the contacts. After scraping the contacts of the potentiometer, remove the fault. For another situation, that is, the spring force of the potentiometer decreases and causes poor contact, etc. The solution to this is to replace the new potentiometer spring.
Fault repair method two
Generally, the use of the potentiometer for a long time will often cause poor contact between the lines due to the damage of the carbon film. When the potentiometer has a poor contact failure, you can first disassemble the potentiometer's shell to check the degree of wear of the internal components. For example, if the potentiometer is only slightly worn and other reasons for poor contact, you can use some industrial-specific nearby, or carbon tetrachloride can clean the carbon film material of the potentiometer. Adjust the pressure of the sliding arm of the potentiometer on the carbon film, and then put it back on.
